What is photofinish? A camera takes video film of the finish line. This is viewed on a computer monitor.
What skills do I need? Be able to use a computer “mouse”
What must I know? Understand a seeding sheet
How do I get a picture of the athletes? Press a button as athletes cross the finish line
How do I identify athletes? By matching their lane number with their chest number
What else must I do? Keep a lap chart for longer race; check results from track judges and timekeepers against the photofinish result; distribute results
How do I get started? Talk to any photofinish official
Anything else? Enjoy working in a small space with four or five other people! (Most photofinish rooms are quite small)
